Chicken Tandoori/Grilled Chicken Drumstick
Hi everyone,wassap?I am back with another easy to make delicious recipe which can be made in a jiffy.You may be wondering what is it????Yes it is Chicken Tandoori/Grilled Chicken Drumstick as the title suggests.In this recipe you can use whole chicken pieces or just with drumsticks.It can be eaten as a starter or appetizer,as a side with any main cource and let me tell you one thing its the first and foremost step when you make Chicken Butter Masala.In Chicken Butter Masala you have to tandoor the whole chicken pieces then simmer in the creamy,buttery masala gravy.It is a multifunctional dish.
This dish claim its origination from Peshawar,Pakistan.Its an Indian Subcontinental dish prepared in a cylindrical clay oven popularly known as Tandoor.The main part of this dish is marination of the chicken.As Wikipedia says this dish originated at the Moti Mahal Deluxe Restaurant in Peshawar, Pakistan.Kundan Lal Gujral a Punjabi is the founder of this dish who in this restaurant invented this dish along with the rich dish Butter Chicken or Chicken Butter Masala.
Enough of history.....Now lets get started with the dish.At home no one of us have clay tandoor.So when you are preparing this at home use a griller,or a gas oven tandoor(easily available online).You have to set the temperature according to the properties of the griller you are using.My husband has prepared this dish and he is a Master Chef in the field of Tandoori and Kabab making.I have learned this dish from him.
Marination:(6 Chicken Legs)
- Yogurt/Dahi/Curd/Cream Cheese: 3-4 tbsp.(Use hung curd)
- Ginger Garlic Paste: 1: 2 ratio tbsp.
- Black Pepper: 1/2 tbsp.
- Everest Tandoori Masala: 2 tbsp.
- Garam Masala: 1/2 tbsp.
- Salt to taste
- White oil: 3-4 tbsp.
- Yellow/Red food color: 1/2 tsp
- Butter and Chaat Masala at the end
Marinate the chicken pieces with all these ingredients except no.9 and keep it overnight in the fridge.
Grilling Process:
- Spread some oil on a oven proof tray and lay the chicken pieces.Keep 1 inch gap in between the chicken pieces.
- Pre heat your griller for 3 to 5 minutes.
- Set the temperature at 400 degree farenheit or according to the griller you are using.
- At this temperature it will take around 30 minutes.
- Open in between and brush some butter.
- At the end you will see the chicken pieces are well browned take the tray out carefully.
- Brush some butter and sprinkle some chaat masala and serve immediately with salad,mint chutney,anything of your choice.
- You can garnish it with chopped coriander and slit green chillies. Sorry here are only 4 chicken pieces.Two of them, we have eaten directly from the tray immediately, then remembered we have to serve them beautifully to click the picture... :) :p :D
