Shorshe Pomfret (Pomfret fish in Mustard Sauce)
Helloww everyone......Hope you all are doing good.Today I am going to share with you another very easy recipe and this time its fish.Its a very unique dish which can be prepared in no time at all.It can be a perfect weekend dinner when you don't wanna spend much time in cooking but at the same time you want some thing delicious and yummy so lets get started.
(for four people)
Ingredients:-
- Pomfret Fish- 4 pieces
- Mustard seeds-Black Mustard seeds(two teaspoon)Yellow Mustard seeds(2teaspoons)
- Turmeric Powder-1 teaspoon
- Kashmiri Red Chilli powder-1 teaspoon
- Dahi-1 and 1/2 tablespoon
- Salt (according to taste)
- Sugar-1/2 teaspoon
- Water
- Coriander leaves chopped-1/2 cup
- Black Cumin seeds-1 teaspoon
- Onions sliced-a palmfull(just as a flavouring agent)
- Tomatoes(half)-chopped into cubes
- Green Chilli-4 to 6
- Mustard Oil- 1 and 1/2cup
Procedure:-
- Soak mustard seeds for atleast two hours with some salt and grind it into a smooth paste.The salt shall prevent the mustard paste from getting bitter in taste.Seive the paste with little water.You get more creamier version of Mustard paste.You can also use Mustard Powder (6 teaspoons).Keep aside.
- Now prepare the paste.Take a bowl and add the Dahi,Mustard paste,Salt,Sugar,Turmeric,Red Chilli Powder with 1 cup of water.Make it smooth by stirring continuously.Keep aside.
- Marinate the fish with little bit turmeric and salt and golden fry them in mustard oil.Remove the fish and keep aside.
- In the same oil sizzle the black cumin seeds or Kalojeere and add the onions and the tomatoes.Fry the onions until golden brown and tomatoes become soft.
- Add the mustard and dahi paste with slit green chillies.You can add the water according to the consistency of the gravy that you want.
- Cook them until the raw flavor is gone.Add the fishes along with the coriander leaves.Keep the flame medium.You will see oil floating at the top after sometime and the aroma of the spices filling your nose.
- Turn off the gas

ReplyDeleteU are absolutely correct Debrupa....but with Hilsa dont give onions tomatoes and coriander and add two teaspoon poppyseed paste in the Mustard paste.....enjoy...HAPPY COOKING and Thanks for commenting :)
